ABOUT TASHA
Tasha was born in Brooklyn, NY and currently resides there. She is a senior at Quest to Learn High School. Yay, 2k16! Some of her hobbies include, reading, writing, and sleeping- She is a night owl. Tasha enjoys looking at awesome vibrant skies and loves the spring time. She mostly writes about her inspirations. Strangers interest her to write, so when she sees a stranger she always gives them a background story, or at least her version of their story. Tasha plans on majoring in Psychology, once out of high school.
ABOUT KELLY
Born and raised in small-town Pennsylvania, Kelly Murphy now writes from Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Her articles have appeared in Brokelyn, Brooklyn Based, Chic Today, NCTE’s The Council Chronicle, Nerve, and various other publications. Kelly graduated from Penn State with a degree in English and works in digital marketing, after several years in the book publishing industry. In her free time, she enjoys running, eating pasta, and attending concerts that range from folk-pop to hip hop. Her passion for writing and its power to self-express and transform lives led her to the Girls Write Now mentoring program, and she couldn’t feel more at home.
This is a scrapbook displaying a young woman's life and her transition from a small town to a big city. She learns that it is possible to come from a place of very little to a place of opportunity. I was thinking about future plans for myself while creating this, and working hard to achieve something that you never thought you could have achieved in the first place. —Tasha McCalla
